     CBM Prayerline:
International - Monday was International Day in Support of Victims of Torture. Please remember all the people who are detained for their beliefs and are tortured for standing up to illegitimate power structures. Ask that those who face persecution and torture would sense Jesus' presence and that His followers will be given the grace to remain faithful to Him. Ask that the Holy Spirit restrain those who resort to torture and they would turn from their wicked ways. Pray in particular for women who face sexual violation when incarcerated.
Africa - Pray for Randy and Elizabeth Legassie serving as CBM Field Staff in Kenya. The Legassies will be leaving Kenya in mid-August after completing their current assignment. Ask for a smooth transition and the Lord's leading and provision as they discern what is next. Pray also for peace as they move into the next phase of their lives and ask the Lord to send people who will be able to fill in the gaps left by their departure.
Canada - Please pray for the church in Quebec. Ask that God by His Spirit would make people come alive in and to Christ. Pray for those who are spreading the gospel and planting new churches in this province. Pray that they would be strengthened and that they would be sensitive to the Holy Spirit as they speak and minister to people. Ask that God would provide for them and supply all the resources needed. Pray that He would send believers willing to disciple new believers.
SAMARITAN'S PURSE - Doug and Beulah A. Doug is a team leader in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Pray for them as they settle into a new home in Bunia.

PLEASE PRAY FOR THOSE WHO WORK IN CHINA WITH ORPHANS - It has been reported through Morning Star Family Home that China is developing a new law that forbids foreigners from working with Chinese children.      Argentina - Pastor N. is a pastor in Rio Tercero city in northern Argentina. His church is being targeted and attacked by the police. They are taking advantage of law 9891 which authorizes the authorities to intervene in religious sects who manipulate. The police have considered evangelical Protestants as extreme. The windows of the church have been smashed. Pray for the 100 members who have fled, and pray for Pastor N. and the 50 who have remained to face the attacks.

This is the plea of persecuted Christians around the world. Today around the world over 200 million are suffering for their faith in Jesus Christ. Each year, Canadians join with Christians in over 130 countries to stand in prayer with our suffering sisters and brothers for the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (IDOP).

Persecuted Church – Did you know?

An estimated 100 million Christians are murdered, assaulted, raped, tortured, beaten, abducted, forced to flee as internal, and external refugees.
Many Christians are forced to be secret believers, unable to declare their faith openly, and cannot get help from churches because their presence will jeopardize the safety of churches.
Persecution is growing and expanding in Africa, Chechnya, Dagestan, Ingushetia, Russia, Mexico, Venezuela and Peru.
Christian radio stations like Trans World Radio, HCJB Global Radio, and Far Eastern Broadcasting Association beam into persecuting areas to encourage secret believers.
Persecuted Christians face job discrimination, and lose educational opportunities.
