*GLOBAL - Monday (21st) was International Peace Day. Pray for courage, strength of character, and the grace of God's Spirit for those involved in ministries of peacebuilding and reconciliation. Remember CBM's initiatives such as trauma counseling, youth peace, and community-based reconciliation programs in the DR Congo, Kenya, Rwanda and South Sudan. Continue to pray for a resolution to the conflict in Syria and surrounding region that has caused so many people to flee. Praise God for churches who are welcoming refugees into their communities.
SAMARITAN'S PURSE - Doug and Beulah A. Doug is a team leader in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

PLEASE PRAY FOR THOSE WHO WORK IN CHINA WITH ORPHANS - It has been reported through Morning Star Family Home that China is developing a new law that forbids foreigners from working with Chinese children. Pray that God's will would be done in this country where these precious children are concerned.

"When I (Nehemiah) heard these things (Jerusalem in ruins) I wept and prayed before the God of heaven." - Nehemiah 1:4
*KAZAKHSTAN - On July 30 Kazak secret police, ministry of education officials and the media interrupted a summer camp run by the Kapshogi Baptist Church. They interrogated the children without the presence of camp staff and their parents for a full day, thus frightening the children according to the pastor. Pastor Li and the camp staff were also interrogated for a full day. No charges were laid. It appears that the police and the media are smearing the church and the camp in order to discredit Christian activities. Please pray for Pastor Li and the church.

KEVIN AND JULIA G - have been serving in China for the past 30 years. They have been detained by authorities since last August amid allegations of spying for North Korea. It is believed that this action is a political response to Canadian allegations of a Chinese infiltration into the National Research Council. Regardless, they are being unjustly detained. Pray for their safety, for an outpouring of support, and for the outworking of God's justice leading to their release.

This is the plea of persecuted Christians around the world. Today around the world over 200 million are suffering for their faith in Jesus Christ. Each year, Canadians join with Christians in over 130 countries to stand in prayer with our suffering sisters and brothers for the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (IDOP).

Persecuted Church – Did you know?

An estimated 100 million Christians are murdered, assaulted, raped, tortured, beaten, abducted, forced to flee as internal, and external refugees.
Many Christians are forced to be secret believers, unable to declare their faith openly, and cannot get help from churches because their presence will jeopardize the safety of churches.
Persecution is growing and expanding in Africa, Chechnya, Dagestan, Ingushetia, Russia, Mexico, Venezuela and Peru.
Christian radio stations like Trans World Radio, HCJB Global Radio, and Far Eastern Broadcasting Association beam into persecuting areas to encourage secret believers.
Persecuted Christians face job discrimination, and lose educational opportunities.
