Local Community Projects

HOW CAN YOU HELP TO SUPPORT OUR
SUMMER MISSIONS (Local, National and International)?

Pick up the blue booklet on the Missions Board beside Pastor Jamie’s office.
It outlines how Care Groups and Individuals can get involved.

Here’s just one more example of the many opportunities:
“WorkCampNE” TBD
WorkCampNE (New England) exists to provide assistance in the way of minor home repairs to the elderly, disabled and under-resourced.  Campers provide all the labour and WorkCampNE provides all the materials and tools at NO cost to the homeowner.  One of our main objectives is to allow people the chance to remain in their own homes long after they are capable of handling repairs themselves.

YOU CAN...

  • 1.  PRAY - commit as a Care Group or individual to be in prayer for this team especially while they are away.
  • 2.  FINANCES AND FUNDRAISING - the hard reality of this experience is that it costs money.   Each participant on the team will be paying as much as they can of their own personal costs, but we would also like to use additional funds to support and encourage this project.  We will also be holding different fundraising events leading up to the summer months - if you and/or a Care Group can be involved, please let Pastor Jamie know ASAP!
  • 3.  NOTES OF ENCOURAGEMENT - These notes can be sent with the team and opened during their time away, to be reminded of their MCBC family that is praying for them and loving them as they serve.  While it may seem a small thing, this is a HUGE opportunity for an individual or Care Group.

There are also other opportunities to help support the Local, National and International mission projects. You can get lots of information from the “Care Group and Individual Information Package” or talk to Pastor Jamie who will be happy to answer any of your questions.

Sandwich Run

www.project417.com

We will be partnering with Project 417 in downtown Toronto to participate in a sandwich run. Each event will involve the team meeting at MCBC to make the bagged lunches, traveling down on TTC to meet up with the team and get a briefing before heading out to hand out the lunches as an opportunity to build relationships with people who live on the streets of Toronto. You will be a living example & model of the Gospel to those whose lives need to hear of His hope & love.

Things you need to know before deciding to go...

  • These opportunities are designed for you to participate in if you are unable to participate in one of the national or international projects.
  • Each opportunity will be offered in July and in August.
  • You need to prepare yourself to have an attitude of being:
    • Faithful - to the responsibility of preparing for this experience in all ways (spiritually, financially, physically, emotionally)
    • Available - to do whatever, whenever asked as we serve on this experience
    • Teachable - to have a humble spirit and be open to what God may be demonstrating about Himself through the opportunity or people.

If you have any questions about these mission opportunities or what is required to be a part of the experience please contact the church office.
